Report On TNS – The Naturist Society Gathering

The Naturist Society:
June 17th-19th we went to the yearly Naturist Society (TNS) Eastern Assembly that took place at a big campground in northern PA. is our first time attending this event along with a couple hundred folks, and we had a fairly great time.
This weeklong assembly consists of group discussions and seminars on various naturist / naturist matters and in addition interesting leisure activities which include the dances at night, a tye-dying session, and swimming and kayaking at the huge lake. The food was acceptable and served 3 times/ in a big hall. We tented again, but there are also cottages. It was followed by Oneg Shabat (the Jewish welcoming service of the Sabbath) with a group of people and a pajama-themed dance party. (I believed the Jewish Sabbath thing was actually arbitrary, though it really is a Jewish camp.)
Naturist Society
On Saturday night it was a Halloween theme dance with some entertaining costumes. All in all there very few folks in their 20s/30s, but this really is no occasion made for young folks. (Young people do not want a workshop on how to use their iPhone for example.)
Yet this really is not to say there weren’t a lot of interesting people to meet and speak to, such as those who are involved in the Naturist Action Committee, and we weren’t disappointed with the NAC’s seminars and others about naturism. We attended talks about kids and naturism, “making waves” with NAC and on the future of naturism. Questions of the role of young people in nudism came up. ie, Why do young people appear to be losing in the movement? How do we reach out to them? These are questions we have also had to ask ourselves!
If you have been a naturist for a number of years, do you think young people are missing? It was said that even those who are introduced to naturism when they are young seem to take a break beginning with the college years up to their 30s, and then some end up going back to it (at least we hope they do.) But are there plenty of young naturists out there? Does anyone know of any college besides Yale that has or had nonsexual naked parties? I am wondering if naturism has almost any presence at many schools
